Today Iv lasix was discontinued. He is now at full feeds so Lipids have also been discontinued, ( although he still isn't keeping up with mom's milk supply and the hospital freezer continues to get jampacked of EBM!) The respirator has also been turned down from 12 to 8. The plan is tomorrow at 0600 to NPO (nothing by mouth) so they can extuabte him after 1000. GUESS WHAT THAT MEANS?????....... We get to hold and cuddle him finally!!!! still no word as when we get to go home to calgary, but really that is the least of my worries. He get to go home soon, he's been in a hospital 6 weeks so far, whats a few more days?...lol.
Staring at the ceiling.....there isn't much else to look at!
Todays picture of all wired and tubes...no change from yesterday.
Quite toasted from morphine and ativan.

I'm so glad Castian is doing so well. I have been thinking about him! I hope you are able to come home to Calgary soon and that he will finally be out of the hospital!
ReplyDeleteArlene,
ReplyDeleteI have been following Castian's journey on the DS board. I am sooo happy that he is doing so well! My son Liam had the same surgery and a pretty long recovery in the hospital-1 month-and I know you have weeks already logged in from before his surgery. It sounds like Castian is making leaps and bounds out the door! I remember Liam lying and staring at the ceiling, and it wasn't until a nurse suggested running some string across the corners of his crib and hanging toys for him to look at. By the time we left the hospital, Liam had begun grabbing, smiling at, and interacting with his toys-it was so neat to watch! Maybe they could do the same for Castian.
My thoughts and prayers continue to be with your whole family,
Kristin
