January 4, 2009

WOW.....monday was an even bigger day than sunday. We arrived at the hospital at around 11am and all the lines and most of the bandages were removed from his chest. There really is a baby underneath everything! His incision is healing up quite nice, the surgeon did a awesome job when he stitched him up.
Cas did not have anymore seizures and he is doing fantastic once again. So well in fact they shipped him back home to the Alberta Childrens Hospital in Calgary. We were informed when we walked in that he may be shipped today or tomorrow, so it was a bit of a shock when they told us he was leaving when the transport team arrived from Calgary.

They did one more Echo before leaving and it turns out he has a minor leaky valve. They said it shouldn't cause problems and will probably not require anymore surgery although they will continue to keep an eye on it.

On this day Cas was all smiles. He smiles soooo much now. And he is starting to coo, it's so neat to see his little personality coming through. Before he would just lie there and stare.

He also developed a severe rash while in edmonton. They think it might be because of the adhesive they used. It seems to be settling down now.

And on another note, Cas's sisters will be coming back to Calgary on Saturday. We are excited as we haven't seen them in one month!

For now Cas is in the regular unit until they assess his feeding needs and other concerns before discharge. I have been told expect him to be here for the week and then they will see where they go from there. The hard part is over.... and i'm happy with that :-)

No more tubes or bandages!
All happy now
