Waiting ...Part III

It seems all we've done over the past 13 weeks is wait and do more waiting. First with my water breaking early, we waited almost three weeks there. Then to bring Cas home it was another 4 weeks. Now the last two weeks was waiting for him to get better to come home, then it changed to waiting for the Cardiac Team in Edmonton to decide on Surgery. Today its waiting til Tuesday when they talk to Edmonton for the second time to see if his surgery will be moved up.

Cas did have a Infection. For sure a urinary tract infection and possibly a bowel infection. This explains why he has been so cranky the last few days. He has been on antibiotics the last couple days so he should start to feel better later today.

They have also decided to start feeding him again. They weren't able to put food directly in his stomach because of the CPAP machine, it puts air into the stomach and causes a upset belly in the baby. As a result they tried to insert a NJ tube, this goes just past his stomach so his belly doesn't get upset. This has not worked because he would either pull it out or it would get kinked. This really sucks because in order to get the NJ tube in, they have to insert a thin wire into the tube so they can check placement with x-ray. It's a WHOLE big process he doesn't like and they have done it 4-5 times now.
The pressure on the CPAP machine in 1/2 what it was when he first came in here, so they think he may be OK with food going into his stomach instead of just past his stomach. he kept pulling out the NJ tube or it kept getting kinked so he hasn't been able to eat.

Just waiting for tomorow to come around.
